New Products To Try Out
The Afternoon Tasting Pavilion presented some local products that this New Yorker would have never been exposed to. Here are some of our favorites.
Frog Hollow Farms – This is the Holy Grail for food. They handed out free samples of the Asian Pears at the Farmers Market. Let me say, it was the BEST pear I have eaten in my entire life!!! It was crispy, juicy and so sweet. I was so sad that I couldn’t buy pounds of these to take home. Besides fresh fruit, they offer a line of products such as granola (amazing), olive oil and baked cookies (sinful). If you’re in SF, you must visit their store. If not, order their products online. You won’t be disappointed. Frog Hollow – thanks for my free pear. It made a great snack for my plane ride home.
Annie the Baker – How smart of this lovely woman to bring little paper bags so we could transport cookies for the road. You know I did. Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip were my picks. She uses all natural ingredients and can taste the freshness in every bite. Her mission statement is “For those that love the cookie dough more than the cookie.”
Herbaceous Gourmet Cookies from Botanical Bakery. These shortbreads were the most creative and delicious treats I tasted. Check out these flavors – Lavender, Lemon & Thyme, Cinnamon & Basile. The herbs weren’t overpowering. They just kissed your tongue ever so slightly. My favorite was Lavender.
Black Stallion Winery – This winery was built on a historic equestrian center. Their wines are full bodied and are a great accompaniment to your meals. Their only retail distribution is online. If you’re in the area, take a ride and experience their tasting room. You’ll become a fan.
Apicoltura Floriano Turco organic Italian honey from Cube Marketplace. The one stop shop to find your gourmet purchases. This honey needs to 1st on your shopping list.
Febleskiver from Aunt Else’s Febleskiver. This Scandinavian donut is cooked in a special Febleskiver pan. Hard to pronounce but easy to eat. Yummy!!!
Butter Crunch from P.O.P Candy. The nuts they use are all tree nuts for all those peanut allergies. The cream used in their caramel comes from Straus Family Creamery, so you know it’s good. Their combinations are unique but so delectable. Give them as holiday gifts. They’ll be a hit.
Ceviche from Fuego at the Maya. Jewels of the sea in a light and fresh salad with a little tang and heat.
Dukkah, Seasonal Jam and Bacon & Maple Syrup Lollipops from Foodzie. Bacon lollipops? Sounds crazy but don’t mock it until you try it.
Can you see why I haven’t been blogging? Food coma I tell you but worth it.
Happiness, $25 and under.
