Great Place For A Country Breakfast
I was having one of those days when you run out of the house and have a few meetings you realize that you haven’t eaten a thing all day. Starting a day without breakfast isn’t good. Thanks to the many neighborhoods spots serving breakfast all day, you don’t have to skip it anymore.
Cafe Pedlar is a quaint cafe on the Lower Eastside serving up farm fresh eggs from Lancaster County and Stumptown coffee. By the time I stepped inside, my stomach was yelling FEED ME!!!!
I’ll have an omelet with caramelized onions and Gruyere cheese, buttermilk biscuit and decaf cafe au lait. I’m drooling just thinking about it. As I glanced around, I noticed people with their laptops typing away (Free Wi-Fi), newspaper faces and the occasional hand reaching out for their cup of coffee and the hipsters coming in for their caffeine fix. The place is small but so charming. Too bad the garden out back isn’t for the restaurant.
My server places my plate in front of me and immediately am hit with the smell of a country kitchen. Oh I think this is going to be good. I cut off a piece with my fork, open wide…..Mmmmmm. Country fresh eggs, there’s nothing like it. How’s my biscuit? Light, fluffy and with a side of apple butter, it’s almost like homemade apple pie. Perfection on a plate.
Cafe Pedlar serves Breakfast and Lunch only as well as some delicious sweets. I can see why the neighbors love it so much.
Happiness, $25 and under.
