A Little Taste Of Havana In The West Village

One of things I love about Latin food is the experience. As soon as you sit down to a meal, it’s a party. But can you have a party on a budget? We think you can.

Havana Alma De Cuba is a little hole in the wall, tucked away in the West Village. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted with a smile. The bright colored walls and music playing in the background, create a happy atmosphere. It’s what I would picture a restaurant in Havana to look like. After studying the menu, I decide to order – Paella Valenciana.

Paella is a 1 pot wonder. Rice, Shrimp, Scallops, Calamari, Clams, Mussels, Chicken, Chorizo, Peppers and Peas. Or as I like to call it: “The Kitchen Sink.” This dish really has a little bit of everything for everyone. The seafood was sweet and tasted like the sea. The chicken was moist and tender. But combined with the peppery chorizo, it’s the perfect combination. I would have liked a little hot sauce on the side, to give it a little more kick.

One of my big pet peeves is service and the service here was OUTSTANDING!!!

If you’re looking for a good spot with a Latin Beat and won’t break the bank, head on over to Havana.

Muchas Gracias 🙂
