Touchdown Turkey

Touchdown TurkeyCheapeats was asked to create a Super Bowl recipe using Pace Picante Sauce.  Fan of football, not so much but I love a challenge.  I decided to tweek a simple but tasty recipe that is always a hit. Will it be good enough to win the contest? You tell me.

Touchdown Turkey

1/2lb ground sweet Turkey sausage

1/2lb ground hot Turkey sausage

1 yellow onion

1 clove of garlic

1 jar Pace Picante Sauce – 16oz (Mild or Spicy)

1 jar Goya Alcaparrado salad – 8oz

Cilantro

Salt & Pepper to taste

Chop up onion and garlic and saute in a skillet in a little olive oil (about a tbsp) until softened. Add turkey sausage and brown. Once browned, add the entire jar of Pace Picante sauce  and half jar of Alcaparrado salad. Be sure to drain the liquid before adding the olives because it’s very salty. Add salt & pepper to tast. Simmer for 15minutes or until bubbly. Add chopped cilantro for garnish.

If you don’t like spice, then use only sweet sausage and mild picante sauce. If heat is your thing, use all hot sausage and spicy picante sauce.

Serve over brown rice with a side of black beans. TOUCHDOWN!!!
