Where To Eat Vegan & Vegetarian In The East Village?
If you are Vegan, it can sometimes be challenging, to find dining options. Cheapeats is here, to help you find a tasty spot. During that search, we rediscovered an oldie but a goodie.
Caravan Of Dreams is located in the hip East Village. It’s a place I used to frequent, back in the day, with a friend who was Vegetarian. After a week of poor eating, I decided to dine there and begin the detox.
Walking through the font door, I saw that the place hasn’t changed a bit. Dark interior and cool music playing in the background. Very underground hipster. I was flagged to sit anywhere and grabbed a seat with a view.
I glanced over the menu and quickly knew exactly what I wanted. Spinach Tofu Scramble and a cup of Green Tea. OK Carnivores, keep your comments to yourself. I enjoyed my cup of tea, reading my emails and patiently waited for my meal.
The preview was a delicious salad with a Carrot Ginger Dressing. The salad was mixture of greens, thinly sliced carrots and sprouts. The perfect combination of textures and crunch. It didn’t take me long, to devour it.
Then the star attraction showed up. To be honest, I’m not a lover of eggs. Once in a while, I’ll order an omelette or scrambled eggs, but they have to have an accompaniment to mask the taste. So, I find scrambled tofu is a great substitution. The scramble was SO flavorful with garlic, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and herbs. Better than any egg dish you will ever eat. True Dat! It comes with a whole wheat wrap, but honestly, it doesn’t need it. As I savored it, I remembered why I always used to order this. IT’S FANTASTIC.
It’s nice to see, that they have survived the test of time. After eating here, I can understand why.
Happiness, $25 and under.
