New Menu At Delicatessen

Cheapeats was recently invited to sample the new Summer menu at Delicatessen and jumped at the opportunity. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve never been. Yes, I admit it. I pass this restaurant all the time and never stopped in, but here was my chance to sample it once and for all.

I was graciously greeted by the Hostess and whisked to the lower level for the event. The lower lounge is perfect for events, parties or private dinners. The glass ceiling, lets in tons of light while protecting you from the elements. I grabbed a seat in the corner and away we go.

The evening began with a specialty cocktail called the Tilly. What is a Tilly you ask? It’s deliciousness in a glass. A mixture of Vodka, muddled Strawberries, Limes and Pomegranate juice. The perfect summer drink. I’m not a big Vodka lover but I LOVED this drink. It was made with Satisfaction vodka. I’ve never heard of it before, but has been noted to self.

Next came the food.

Fried Tuna & Avocado Roll – It’s a cross between a Sushi and egg roll. Moist tuna with creamy avocado wrapped in a crispy shell. YUM.

Chicken Tacos – Smoky chicken with black beans, corn, cilantro, avocado & spices in a soft taco shell. WOW. Warning – they do pack some heat from the jalapeno, so beware.

Mozzarella & Tomato – Battered mozzarella with cherry tomatoes & fresh basil. So simple but SSOOOOO good.

Lettuce Wraps – Chicken with Asian spices wrapped in a lettuce leaf topped with plum sauce. You get the warmth of the chicken, crispness of the lettuce and the tangy sweet sauce. A crowd favorite.

Dessert

Chocolate Cake – Rich and decadent chocolate cake with a thick chocolate frosting topped with fresh raspberries. Chocolate & raspberry, one of my favorite combinations. SINFUL.

Cheesecake Lollipop- Creamy cheesecake on a stick dipped in dark in chocolate. Quite rich….put me in a sugar coma.

Maple Bacon Beignets – A beignette with bacon bits and maple syrup and dipped in a sauce that was indescribable. Basically pancakes with bacon and maple syrup all in one bite. MY FAVORITE THING ON THE MENU….IN FACT OF THE ENTIRE EVENING.

I want to thank Chef Michael Ferraro, Pastry Chef Kate Cowan and The Blaq Group for a filling evening. I will be back!!!
