The Best Turkey Burger

Yesterday, Cheapeats had the great pleasure of attending the Jennie-O Food Truck event in Midtown courtesy of the folks at Carmichael Lynch Spong. Jennie-O Turkey is spreading the word that you can use alternative forms of protein to eat healthy without having to sacrifice taste. So they asked Yassir Z. Raouli, owner of the The Bistro Truck, to come up a Turkey Buger menu.

If you’re not familiar with The Bistro Truck, they are one of the great Food Trucks that can be found in NYC. Their mission is quality, affordable bistro fair with a Moroccan flair.

With anticipation, I grabbed a seat at a table with some lovely ladies and  took a sip of my Moroccan Iced Tea. Let the festivities begin.

Bronx  – Turkey Burger with blackened Poblano and Red Peppers. Grilled scallions, spicy mayo and cheese. The inspiration was the Latin flair of the South Bronx. I didn’t think I was going to like this but I did. Had just enough kick but not overwhelming. Delicioso!!!

Mulberry – A pizza burger with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. Marrying Little Italy with a burger.

Flartiron – Grilled mushrooms, herbs, spices, cheddar cheese and sliced avocado. The inspiration was the Earth. All I can say is….FANTASTIC!!

East Village – Vegetarian inspired burger with Panko breadcrumbs, parsley, bean sprouts and cucumber. I LOVED it. It was light, fresh with great crunch. A wonderful mixture of textures. Almost like a salad and burger in one.

Brooklyn – The Burger with ATTITUDE. Fried onions, oregano, chili powder, cumin and cheddar cheese. MY FAVORITE!!!

By now you’re stomach is grumbling from hunger and wishing you could sample these tasty delights….YOU CAN! All this week, the Bistro Truck will be parked around NYC handing out free samples of their creations. Every location, will feature a different burger.

To learn more, check out Switch To Turkey. To find out where the truck will be, check out Bistro Truck.

Hint….head to Hudson and King St between 11-4pm today 🙂

Turkey Burgers don’t have to be boring anymore.
