Where To Get Dumpling and Buns?

A couple of blocks from my home, is a spot that has seen many eateries come and go. BBQ, burgers, you name it. Nothing has ever quite stuck. The latest candidate is an Asian restaurant. After a long day, I decided to order some food and take it away with me.

Ten Ten or 10 10 is cozy spot in Gramercy serving up small and large bites with a Vietnamese flair. The menu is listed on a large chalkboard on the wall. The wooden dining bar covers half of the restaurant. A bright red couch gives you a chance to chill while waiting for your food and listen to some great music.

Being the Virgo that I am, I wonder why they don’t have a few tables in the center? The empty floor space is just dead space. Wouldn’t it be more inviting to passersby seeing people at tables instead of just their back, sides and fronts at the bar? It will always looks empty. Hint, Hint owners!!!

After glancing at the menu, I decide to order soup and buns. The cooks in the kitchen prepare my meal. I’m handed my bag and away I go. When I arrive home, I tear open my bag because by now, I’m starving. First…Shrimp Wonton Soup. A large bowl of  pork and shrimp wontons, baby shrimp and veggies, swimming in a rich and hearty broth. I’m very pleased. My other selection –  Crispy Miso Salmon Buns. Picture Miso marinated salmon with crispy skin wrapped in a light and fluffy bread with bibb lettuce and pickled vegetables. Basically, an Asian Taco. I’ve never had one before but they were outstanding! The bun was light and fluffy and the fillings were crunchy, buttery and full of flavor. The best part was that they weren’t heavy and were packed with flavor.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I do hope they last because the food is fabulous. But I’ll repeat my opinion. Add some tables in the dead space. It will draw the customers in along with the free wi-fi.  No one likes to look at empty space. I’m just saying.
