Favorites From The Fancy Food Show

I recently had the pleasure of being invited to the Fancy Food Show in New York City. A chance to see and taste the latest and greatest products from around the world. After hours and hours of sampling the many products exhibited ( what can I say, I’m a team player) I’ve put together a list of some of my favorites.

Piaceri Mediterranei Gluten Free Pasta– Italians making gluten free pasta? Crazy right? Yes I am one of the many people who have an intolerance to wheat. A huge cross to bare for an Italian. The gorgeous Italian handed me a bag of Penne Rigate and said; “Try it, you’ll like it. Like it I didn’t….I LOVED it. It’s a combination of corn, rice and chick peas. Holds it texture without turning into mush. Wait…. breads, cookies and desserts too?  I can’t wait for stores in the states to carry their products.

Mustard from East Shore Speciatly Foods – This Midwest company manufactures pretzels, mustards and sauces for dipping. My fave – Key Lime Mustard. Your sandwich will thank me.

Chips from Rock and Roll Gourmet – Makers of the Hippie Chip. Gotta love those West Coasters. They offer healthy snacks for the rocker in you. Peace, love and gluten free. Rock On!

Spring Rolls from Spring Kitchen – a local NYC manufacturer of hand rolled artisan Vietnames Spring Rolls and Egg Rolls  made from their family recipes. Outstanding for a frozen product.

Vanilla Goat Cheese Yogurt from Coach Farms – Sounds nasty but is absolutely delicious and no after taste.

Plaza Sweets – Outstanding Carrot Cake. Elegant desserts you’ll never forget.

Truffle Butter from Sabatino Tartufi – An inexpensive way to turn a simple dish into a rich and delectable meal.

Smoked Mozzarella from Ranieri – a New York based manufacturer. Tasty!!!

Fruit Syrup from Blackberry Patch – Real fruit syrup without being overly sweet. You may never go back to maple syrup again. Did I mention they’re sugar free?

Gree Noodle – Organically grown noodles made from Moroheiya which is an Egyptian leaf. High in potassium, calcium, iron, beta carotene, vitamin A, B1, B2, B9, C and dietary fibers. Good and good for you. Who knew?

Nut mixes from Terra Fina – my favorite the praline maple mix. Yum.

Artichoke Bruschetta from Delallo – Quick and easy spread that turns a slice of bread into a slice of heaven.

Gluten free chips and crackers from R.W. Garcia – healthy snacking keeps on getting better and better.

Flavored waters from Rocchetta – Leave it to the Italians to combine spring water with great flavors like blood orange and green tea. Refreshing.

Olive Oil from Il Vero di Santeramo – All I can say is pass me a piece of bread.

Mexican Hot Chocolate from Kekua – Move over Swiss Miss, this ain’t your ordinary hot chocolate mix.

Herbs, Oils and Spreads from the Scrumptious Pantry – bringing the farmers market to the retail store.

Honey Spreads from Mellona – Outstanding honey spreads from Cyprus. It’s a party on your toast.

Ticings – edible art for your cakes. Turn a store bought cake mix into a work of art.

Happiness, $25 and under.
