When The Moon Hits Your Eye Like A Big Pizza Pie That’s Amore
What is one dish that everyone across the globe loves? No clue? PIZZA. It’s the go to meal for those quiet Friday nights usually watching a video. Inexpensive meal for students on a budget. Easy meal on the go. I don’t know about you, but I could eat it everyday. Heck, I just had it yesterday, which reminds me, leftovers are in the fridge. Cold pizza for breakfast…like you haven’t done that before. Don’t judge me!
I’m often asked for recommendations for authentic New York pizza. There are many options out there but this pizza snob only gives the thumbs up to a few.
Arturo’s – This village landmark is the original serving coal oven pizza. Great for lunch, dinner or those late nights when you need something to soak up those one to many cocktails.
Lombardi’s – This Nolita spot was licensed in 1905 as the 1st pizzeria in NYC. You must try their meatballs. Mamma Mia.
Patsy’s – Their thin crust and sweet tomato sauce never disappoints.
Mediterraneo – This Upper Eastside joint serves up pizza and pasta only. The pizza is cooked in a brick oven so it comes out paper thin, crispy and bubbly. A great neighborhood spot.
Posto & Vezzo – These sister restaurants are cranking out thin crust pizza for the locals in Gramercy & Murray Hill. Choose from plain or pesto crust and an assortment of tasty toppings. Meat lovers pie is a must for carnivores.
Grimaldi’s – Follow the line to this legendary Brooklyn spot. Their no reservation and cash only policy adds to the experience. Don’t forget to walk a few feet to the lighthouse and treat yourself to an ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Company. The perfect ending to a perfect meal.
L&B Spumoni Gardens – Who knew that this local Brooklyn spot from my childhood would stand the test of time and become a landmark. They’re known for their sicilian slice but not like what you know. Their’s is almost like focaccia with tomato sauce and grated pecorino romano. Perfection on a plate.
So if you have a craving for great pizza, try any of these spots. You’ll thank me for it.
Happiness, $25 and under.

I have to go with Arturo’s—mainly because it’s one of the few coal ovens left in the city and partially because, well, I live on the block : )
Yes it is a good one.
