Hot and Spicy

VietnamWhen you’re a student, cheap is the name of the game. NYU is the most expensive university in New York. Students pay a premium to study there, not allowing for much disposable income. Well have no fear, you can eat well on a budget.

L’Annam is a spot on University Place serving authentic Vietnamese cooking. The food is priced right, comes out quick and is tasty. I recently dined there for lunch among the students and neighborhood locals.

I splurged on their salmon special for $12.95. You read right…$12.95. It was chunks of salmon lightly floured and sauteed with snow peas, mushrooms, peppers and Thai basile over your choice of brown or white rice.  The sauce was light but velvety. But hold on…it packed some heat. I honestly couldn’t finish the whole thing, so I took my little doggy bag with me. Not all the dishes are spicy but all are flavorful. They do have a number of entrees under $10.

Mom and Dad don’t worry, junior won’t be starving.
